Linden Flower has a long history of medicinal use and folklore--particularly in regions of Europe surrounding the species Tilia europaea. This herb was a common folk remedy in the home, ranging from childhood fever support, hyperactivity of the mind, insomnia, and conditions of general excess heat. The bark of Linden trees was commonly used for basket weaving as well! In pre-Christian times, Germanic peoples believed that they were associated with the goddess Freya (Goddess of truth and love). It was thought that you couldn't tell a lie under a Linden. The Linden tree's heart-shaped leaves may have also led to it being called the "lover's tree."

Why we love this herb:
Linden is considered to be a spiritual heart herb. This category of plants tends to have profound effects not only on the physical heart, but the energetic body of the heart space relating to our higher minds, capacities to emote, and our connection to the Divine. Linden also contains citronella and acts as a natural insect repellent!
